What to Bring
Many sento sell or rent the basics, but a small towel, bath towel, toiletries, cash and drinking water make the visit easier. Remove your shoes at the entrance and keep valuables in the available lockers.

The Usual Bathing Flow
Pay at reception, enter the correct changing room, undress, and wash thoroughly before entering any bath. Start with a comfortable temperature, take breaks, and dry your body lightly before returning to the changing area.

Simple Manners to Remember
Swimsuits are normally not worn in sento. Keep towels out of the bath water, tie up long hair, avoid loud conversation and follow photography rules. Tattoo policies differ, so check the facility before visiting.
